During Christmas time we normally see candied nuts in the mall. I had never thought of making them at home and paid very little attention to them. However, during a recent theme park visit I tasted candied pecans in a salad and loved the idea. I used walnuts since they seem to be a closer cousin to walnuts and you can use any nut of choice.Nuts in a salad add a nice crunch and richness and the candied ones add a mild touch of sweetness too. The sweetness is subtle and does not overpower the salad. Remember to add these nuts to the salad just before serving. Otherwise, they tend to turn soggy and also lose the sweetness. Off to the recipe.
1. Any nuts can be used.
2. Keep a close watch and stir continuously as they tend to burn easily.
3. Once done, these are very hot. Allow to cool before using.
