I had this variety of chips in mind for a long time. The first attempt ended with something completely different and now I realized that baking at a low temperate was the key to crispy chips. At high temperatures, the chips would just burn before getting crisp. This does take about an hour in the oven, but is totally worth it. Season it as per your liking and bake it to the level of crispness you desire. Keep a watch and toss it every now and then to avoid burning. Off to the recipe.
Baked sweet potato chips.
- sweet potatoes - as needed cut into thin slices or strips
- olive oil - 2 tsp (adjust to amount of sweet potatoes)
- salt - to taste
- pepper - to taste
Toss sweet potatoes with olive oil, salt and pepper. Spread on baking sheet and bake at 400F for about 10 min. Then at 300F for 45 min to an hour until the desired crispness is reached. Move the chips around every 15 min or so.
Do not overcrowd the pan.
