Green gram dal is for day 7 of the blogging marathon. I initially had a different dish planned for G, but when Saras announced the ingredients for Dish-It-Out, I changed my mind. The only change that I made to the usual recipe was that I added carrots. When my MIL visited us years back, she made this side dish for rotis and I instantly loved it. There is something about the ginger and dal combo and it is also very easy to make. Should I mention that it is healthy too? .
Chillies and ginger are the important ingredients in this dish. Adjust those according to taste. Off to the healthy recipe.

Healthy bowl of dal.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup green gram dal
- 1 cup chopped potatoes
- 1/2 cup chopped carrots
- 2 tsp oil
- 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 3 green chillies
- 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1 cup water
- Salt
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- Coriander leaves to garnish

It is indeed a healthy side dish. It is one of my favorite side dishes. I don’t add the carrot though!
