Bitter gourd is one of my favorite veggies out there. On a recent trip to the Indian store, I bought a bunch of these to make pitlai. But due to time constraints I ended up making these easy chips. They were crispy and went perfect with rice. I have also tried baking them earlier, but you need to keep a close eye as they burn pretty easily.
Not many people are fond of this vegetable, but as chips they might want to give it a try. My kids tried it and said that it was bitter
. We loved it and enjoyed the munchies a lot. Off to the recipe.
Bitter Gourd Chips

Deep fried bitter gourd slices.
Ingredients:
- bitter gourd - 2 cups - sliced thinly
- rice flour - 3 tsp
- besan - 1 tsp
- salt - to taste
- chilly powder - 1/2 tsp (adjust to taste)
- turmeric - a pinch
- oil - to deep fry
Instructions:
Slice the bitter gourds. Sprinkle the remaining ingredients and mix gently. Heat oil and deep fry in small batches until crispy.
I used a mandolin slicer to make even slices.

Chips ready. We had it with rasam rice.

avid follower of your blog . not a gr8 cook ..but just a tip … soak the bitter gourds in a mixture of curd and water for 2 mins and strain and spread on muslin cloth to redure the bitterness
Thanks for the tip. Will try it since my kids are not a big fan of bitter gourd because it is bitter
.
