Necessity is the mother of invention right. If you have read my previous posts, I had mentioned that the closest Indian grocery store is 3 hours away. So I try to stock up on a lot of stuff during each visit, but sometimes it is still not enough. Tea toast is one such thing which we go through a lot at home. How many ever packets I buy it is gone too soon. We love to have it with tea, coffee, bournvita .. you name it . So when I came across this recipe in ShowMeTheCurry I had to try it out. The original recipe uses hamburger buns, but I have used dinner rolls. This is a very simple recipe where we crisp up the dinner rolls in the oven. It is worth trying out.
Ingredients
Dinner rolls
Butter
Sugar
Method
Preheat oven to 275F. Slice the dinner roll in half.
Apply a little butter on each side.
Next sprinkle some sugar on the buttered rolls.
Slice the dinner rolls into slices. Serrated knife works best.
Sliced rolls.
Arrange on a baking sheet with butter side up.
Place in a preheated 275F oven for about an hour. If using two trays, rotate the trays after 30min.
Out of the oven. See how they have crisped up.
Tea toast ready to be served. Simple right. Works perfect for me when the tea toast cravings hit.
Enjoy!
