Kale Kootu (Using Instant Pot)

Kale Kootu-1Kale usually reminds me of drumstick leaves. This is a simple gravy dish using lentils that goes well with rice or roti. I have used the instant pot electric pressure cooker to make this. Off to the recipe.

Kale Kootu

Kale Lentil Gravy



Cook dal. To the dal, add kale, garlic, onion, coconut and salt. Cook until the kale is done. Mix well.

Tadka: Heat oil and splutter mustard seeds. Add red chillies and urad dal. Saute until the dal turns golden brown.

Add the tadka to the kale-dal mixture.

1. Dal washed and ready to cook. [Manual 12 min setting is what I used for dal in instant pot. Natural Release]2. Cooked dal.3. Add kale, garlic, onion, coconut and salt to the cooked dal. Cook until kale is done. [Steam 5 min setting is what I used in instant pot. Natural Release].4. Cooked kale.5. Mix it well.6. Do a tadka with mustard seeds, urad dal and chillies. Add to kale kootu.
Healthy kootu ready.
