I love chaats and it is easy to put those together if you have the basic chutneys on hand. This recipe uses dates and has been on my list forever. It is actually pretty simple to make and pressure cooking made the job easy for me. I actually could not stop tasting the chutney because it was way too delicious
. There was a perfect blend of sweetness, tartness and so on. We enjoyed the chutney with various chaats. I had posted a chutney earlier with no dates as well. Off to the recipe.
Chutney with tamarind and dates.
Pressure cook dates and tamarind for about 10 minutes. Allow to cool. Remove seeds if any and blend well. Strain the puree and keep aside.
To 1/4 cup of water add the jaggery and bring to a boil. When the jaggery dissolves add the puree and rest of the ingredients.
Boil for a couple of minutes and turn off the stove.
