Celery Poriyal (Celery Lentil Fry)

I have to admit that I was not a fan of celery until recently. I used to avoid it at all cost. But, recently the bountiful baskets that I have been buying had bunches of celery in them. Since I hate to waste stuff, I have started trying different recipes with celery with the Indian touch of course.
The Indian touch certainly helped and now I do consider celery in my shopping trips. Celery in my opinion tastes close to banana stem (vazhai thandu) that we absolutely do not get in my area. Either way, I am glad to incorporate celery into our diet. This is a simple stir fry that goes well with rice. Off to the recipe.

Healthy side dish with celery.
Heat oil and splutter mustard seeds. Add urad dal, channa dal, red chillies and curry leaves. When the dals turn golden brown add onion and moong dal. Simmer for about 10 min to allow the dal to cook slightly.
Add the rest of the ingredients except coconut. When celery is cooked add the coconut and mix well. Serve with rice or roti.
