Bottle Gourd Lentil Gravy (Kootu)

Kootu is a lentil gravy and there are a lot of variations. Here, I have used kootu podi that simplifies the process a lot. I usually make the podi in bulk and store in air tight containers. Since this is a one-pot dish, it is perfect for the weeknight dinners. Kootu goes well with rasam rice, rotis, etc. Off to the recipe.

Bottle Gourd Lentil Gravy (Kootu).

Heat oil and splutter mustard seeds. Add red chillies and the rest of the ingredients. Cook for 3 - 4 whistles.
Serve with rice or roti.
2. Add the rest of the ingredients and cook for 3 - 4 whistles.
3. Kootu ready. Serve with rice or roti.
