This is a flat bread made with whole wheat flour and onions. I tasted this first at my friend’s house and got the recipe from her. Since we add the onions to the dough, there is no stuffing involved. The onions give a mild sweet taste to this yummy bread. We had it with a simple tomato pickle. Off to the recipe.

Onion Paratha (Indian Flat Bread)
Tasty flat bread with whole wheat flour and onions.
- whole wheat flour - 3 cups
- onion - 1 cup - chopped
- salt - to taste
- ajwain - 1 tsp
- water - as needed
- oil - as needed
Mix flour, onion, salt and ajwain. Using water form a dough; allow to rest for 10 minutes.
Divide dough into 12 pieces. Roll each into a paratha as shown in image.
Heat a tawa and place the rolled paratha on it. Flip the paratha and drizzle a tsp of oil. After about a minute or so, flip again and drizzle some oil. When both sides are cooked remove from flame.

1. Take all ingredients (except water and oil) together2. Mix well.3. Add water as needed and form a dough.4. Dough ready. Allow to rest for 10 minutes.5. Divide dough into 12 pieces. Roll each one as shown into a paratha. First roll into a circle. Spread some oil over it. Fold to form a semi circle and fold again to form a triangle. Roll the triangle again.6. Heat a tawa. Yummy bread ready.
