Vegetables in Hot Garlic Sauce | Cooks JoyI had no idea that these sauces are a breeze to make and have tasted similar ones in only restaurants. The recipe is very simple and corn starch is the thickening agent. You could add any vegetable of choice and tofu would be a good candidate too. We had it with fried rice and felt like Chinese take out :) . Adapted from Mallika Badrinath book.

Vegetables in Hot Garlic Sauce

Crunchy vegetables in hot garlic sauce.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Vegetables
Heat oil and saute carrots for a few seconds. Next add the remaining vegetables, soy sauce, salt and pepper. Saute for a few minutes. The vegetables need to be crunchy.

Sauce
Mix tomato sauce, soy sauce, salt, pepper, sugar, corn starch and water.

Heat oil and saute garlic and jalapenos. Next add the sauce and simmer until it thickens. Taste and add salt if needed. It took about 12 minutes for me. Add the cooked vegetables. Garnish with spring onions and turn off the stove. Serve with rice.

My Notes
1. Vegetables need to be crisp.
2. Use two tbsp corn flour instead of corn starch if needed.
