15 Bean Masala Sundal

Another recipe for Navaratri and sundal is basically a legume salad with tons of variations. If you want to jazz up the humble sundal a bit, then you have to try this. Normally onion and garlic are avoided on festival days and I have posted a few with no onion and garlic also that you check out here. This sundal served a dual purpose of being a snack and also as a dip for chapati. The spices added a ton of flavor and the sundal tasted great. Other recipes with 15 beans are, this simple sundal and this soup. Off to the recipe.

Tasty salad with legumes.
Soak beans overnight and cook. Take little water and masala ingredients in a blender and make a paste.
Heat oil and splutter mustard seeds. Add urad dal and curry leaves. When the dal turns golden brown add the onions.
When onions are cooked, add the paste and saute for 5 minutes. Next add tomatoes. When the tomatoes turn mushy, add the cooked beans and salt. Saute for a couple of minutes and turn the stove off. Garnish with cilantro.

3. Take all the masala ingredients in a blender along with some water.
4. Blend to a paste.
5. Heat oil and splutter mustard seeds. Add urad dal and curry leaves.
6. When the dal turns golden brown, add onions.
7. Saute until onions are cooked. Next add the prepared paste. Saute for 5 minutes.
8. Add the tomatoes.
9. Saute until the tomatoes turn mushy.
10. Add the cooked beans and salt.
11. Saute for a couple of minutes and turn off the stove. Garnish with coriander leaves.
