The first muffin I made was a banana walnut muffin and that was years ago. Being very new to baking I still remember how proud I was with the result. I had no idea how a muffin would taste, but it rose well and looked good. My friends who tasted it later said that it was good. Inspired by the same muffin I decided to replace banana with strawberries and also added some greek yogurt.
The result was a very moist muffin with strawberry flavor. The good part is that you do not need any mixer to do the job and everything is mixed using a spatula. The whole process takes minutes and with the strawberry season at its peak, there is no excuse to not try these beauties . Off to the recipe.
Strawberry Greek Yogurt Muffins
Moist muffins with strawberries and greek yogurt.
Ingredients:
- all purpose flour - 1.5 cups
- whole wheat flour - 1/2 cup
- baking powder - 1 tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- sugar - 1/2 cup (I used 1/4 cup + 3 tbsp)
- milk - 1 cup (fat free)
- eggs - 1
- oil - 1/3 cup
- greek yogurt - 1/4 cup
- strawberries - 1.5 cups - chopped plus as needed for sprinkling on top
Instructions:
Sift the flours. Mix the flours, baking powder, salt and sugar.
Mix milk, egg, oil, greek yogurt and strawberries in a bowl. Add this to the dry ingredients and mix gently with a spatula.
Pour the batter into a greased muffin pan. Place some strawberry pieces on top for color if needed and bake in a 400F oven for 20 - 25 minutes until the tops are golden brown.
1. Do not overfill the muffin cups. Leave some room for the batter to rise.

Just made these and cut the sugar like you suggested, they are great! How do you reccommend storing these?
I just tried this recipe with fresh peaches in place of the strawberries and used half and half brown and white sugar. Delicious!
I just made these and they are super yummy and moist!!! I just added a bit of lemon zest and used turbinado sugar in place of white sugar and sprinkled a bit of the turbinado sugar on top just before baking! Will make these again for sure!!!
hi, I was wondering if you could use regular strawberry yogurt or plain yogurt for this?
If using regular yogurt, we might have to reduce the milk content and/or make some changes since regular yogurt is thinner than Greek yogurt. I have not tried it and will update the post when I try the same.
I made this recipe exactly and found the muffins seriously lacking in taste. Disappointing!
Hi, I just wanted to verify that it’s ONE egg that we add, because under the instructions it says add egg(S) plural. Thanks the recipe looks awesome!
Sorry about that. It is ONE egg only.
Gorgeous! Pinning now…
I searched for hours for the perfect moist, and healthy muffin recipe and this definitely fit the bill. These muffins are have a lovely aroma in the oven, and wonderful taste when they come out. I made this recipe into mini muffins, but adjusted the cooking time and temp a bit. On my first test batch I mixed some crushed pineapple into the batter (in natural juice of course) to keep with the healthy integrity of the muffins, and sprinkled a tiny bit of coconut on each one(I also used coconut oil, if you haven’t tried it in baking is a must have in the kitchen). They turned out fantastic! My second “test” batch I mixed in one overly ripe mushed up banana, I had to adjust the flour ratio a bit since banana can make the batter runny, I also added more crushed pineapple. Wowza these are going to be a go-to recipe, will definitely be putting this into my recipe journal. These totally screamed summer in flavor with the additions of tropical fruit. Next time I’ll try pineapple chunks. I cannot wait to try more of your wonderful recipes, keep up the AMAZING work:)
