Have you had overripe bananas that you forgot to use up? I seem to be ending up with it off and on and even if there are a few blackened spots, the kids consider it rotten . Rather than making banana bread or muffin that does not always fit in my busy day, I have turned to making these smoothies. The frozen bananas add a lot of creaminess to the smoothie. To add some flavor and because my kids love peanut butter, I have added that as well.
In fact my first choice would have been nutella, but I did not have that and went with peanut butter. You could also make a thicker version using less milk. I like to call it banana ice-cream and I am sure kids would love it too. Either way it tastes excellent. Now you know what to do with the over ripe bananas right ? Off to the recipe.
Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie
Tasty banana peanut butter smoothie.
Ingredients:
- banana - 2 (sliced into pieces and frozen)
- peanut butter - 3 - 4 tsp
- sugar - if needed
- milk - 1 - 1.5 cups (I used fat free milk)
Instructions:
Slice and freeze the bananas.
Take all the ingredients in a blender and blend well.
1. You can directly freeze the bananas in the bag instead of freezing them in the plate first. Freezing first on a plate keeps the pieces separate.

Loved this combo..
I just made a young relative frozen banana, soya milk and honey shake then saw your post!- Must be something in the air Funny how kids always refuse spotted bananas when that’s how you are supposed to eat them. I always freeze any that we have, ready for banana icecream./ smoothies/ shakes
PS: will try your yummy peanut butter idea next time!
perfect breakfast smoothie.
