Palkova is basically an Indian sweet made by simmering milk until it reduces to about half of its original quantity. Then, we add sugar and other flavorings like cardamom. This is usually a time-consuming process and as much I like to make it the traditional way, I just do not get the time to make it. So, ever since I came across this quick palkova in a ton of sites I have been making palkova this way.
My 4 yr old loves it and we have a video of her enjoying the palkova when she was 2. I made this for her birthday and she did not let me take pictures and kept asking for more. It was not just her, I loved it too and that surprises me since I do not care much for anything sweet. Getting a dessert that is very similar to the traditional one in a fraction of time is definitely a boon according to me.
Well, I am sure I will make the traditional one when I have enough time to spare. Until then, enjoy this quick recipe.
Ingredients
My Notes
- Keep an eye at all times since the milk will overflow.
- Do not keep the milk in the microwave and walk away for the 2 minutes or one minute. You will have to keep an eye and stop the microwave when the milk begins to rise and start it again until the 2 min or 1 min is up. Then take it out and stir. Put it back in for the required time.
- Microwave timings might vary. When it turns a little frothy and has a nice texture when stirring, it is done.
Method
Quick and tasty dessert ready.
