Of late I have become obsessed with baking bread. I do not care much for anything sweet and that makes baking these beauties a pure delight. Added to that the family loves bread like anything and it is all gone the same day. The bread is so tasty that the kids hardly use butter or jam and for the most part eat it plain. Not just my son, but his friend also wanted a second helping of the bread . The process is simple with a little planning for the yeast to rise and the French toast that I had posted earlier uses this bread. The recipe is from the cookbook that came with the cuisinart food processor and I have made this bread many times already.
Pretty loaf of bread.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp instant yeast (Refer to notes)
- 2.5 cups bread flour (all purpose flour can be used)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
My Notes
- If using active dry yeast, proof it first with some warm water and sugar and then add to flour. You can add the same amount of yeast as mentioned. For proofing : Mix active dry yeast, little luke warm water(about 1 oz.) and sugar. When it gets frothy, add to the flour. Skip adding sugar to the flour since we have already added it for proofing.
- Kneading is important.
Method
Have it with butter or jam or make a french toast. Tasty bread ready.
Enjoy!

Wow…that’s an perfect looking bread…..looks soft and yum….
I always thought baking bread in glass ware will not brown at all but I can see the soft browned top. Beautiful. I love baking breads and watching the kids relishing it with jam.
