Baked Kale Chips

I started using kale only in the past couple of years and it was mostly a stir fry. After seeing a few shows in food network, where kale was baked I decided to try it out finally. Kale has a slightly bitter flavor and the leaves are pretty thick. They crisped up very nice in the oven, but keep an eye as they tend to go black very quick too. I went with just salt and pepper for the seasonings.

I loved the kale chips and will be making it often for me. K on the other hand was not too fond of it.  While showing him the pictures I clicked, his only comment was that they look like leaves :) . I don’t expect leaves to look any different :) . Anyway, I am all for healthy and easy snacks and this one fits in perfectly. Off to the recipe.

Crispy kale leaves.

My Notes

1. They turn black pretty fast towards the end, so keep an eye. Also, taking it off the oven early resulted in chewy chips. If chewy, keep it in for another minute or so.

Ingredients
1 bunch kale
2 tsp olive oil
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste

Method
Take the cleaned kale leaves in a bowl and add olive oil.

Add salt.

Add pepper.

Gently massage the kale with your hands to spread the seasonings and oil.

Line a  baking sheet with parchment paper and place the kale on it. Bake in a 350F preheated oven for 16 – 20 min until the leaves are crisp.

Out of the oven.

Healthy and tasty snack ready.

Enjoy!
