I stocked up on these strawberries when they were on sale since the whole family loves them. Flax has a lot of health benefits and I bought a big box of flax meal from Costco. I have used it only as an egg substitute so far and have been trying to find more uses for it. On my recent google search I read about adding flax to pancakes, smoothies, etc. and I decided to try out the same. I kept it a secret and told K and the kids that it was only strawberry and bananas because if I tell them about flax I am sure they would frown that I have made a big mistake !!. I am sure K would know about flax now though .
The smoothie is the usual classic strawberry-banana with the added goodness of flax meal. It tasted great and nobody knew about the secret ingredient. My son said it tasted like yogurt since I tend to make my smoothies slightly thicker. You can omit flax meal too. I would suggest starting with a lesser amount of flax meal if you are just adding it to your diet. Off to the recipe.
