Day 4 of the 10th edition of blogging marathon and my theme is “Guilt Free Snacks”. Today is a snack that is loved by most people. We started making popcorn from kernels only in the past couple of years and I liked the fact that we can control the salt and butter when we make it at home. Another advantage is that we could add Indian spices to flavor it.
For the most part we use only oil and flavor it with sambar powder or pepper powder along with salt. This time I wanted to keep it white and used only salt. Who would say no, to a healthy snack that is made within a matter of minutes? Off to the recipe.
Ingredients
1 tbsp oil
1/2 cup corn kernels
Salt
Method
Heat oil in a heavy bottomed vessel and add the kernels. Shake so they are in a single layer.
Add salt.
Shake to coat the salt. Keep flame at a medium level.
Cover the vessel. You will start to hear the popping sound. Wait till the popping sound stops.
Voila. See how pretty they look.
Tasty and healthy popcorn ready.
