It is that time of the year in India where people are gearing themselves for the festival season. Some of the big festivals during this season are Krishna Jayanthi, Vinayaka Chaturthi, Navaratri and Diwali. I remember my mom grinding rice flour in the mill in huge quantities for making snacks and there was an abundance of snacks during this season. As kids, we were not expected to do much other than to munch on the snacks and sweets. I am not even sure how she managed to make so many snacks each year .. guess I was busy studying to notice all that !!. Even now when we visit home, she makes these snacks for my son and K whether it is Diwali or not.
Urad dal flour is used in the making of some of the yummy snacks like Murukku, Seedai, etc. Since it is used only in small quantities we can easily make urad dal flour at home.
