Vazhakkai(Raw banana) podimas is a very simple, healthy and tasty dish and brings back a lot of memories of childhood. This along with rasam was my favorite combo. Garlic adds a nice flavor to this dish. It only takes 10 minutes to put this dish together and uses everyday ingredients .. now who would not like that right. I had this sitting in my drafts for ages and had been wanting to post it ever since I saw Krithi’s event announcement. So here it goes.
2 tsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp urad dal
1/2 tsp channa dal
3 red chillies
1 raw banana – peeled and cut into small chunks

The main ingredients for this dish.
Peel the plantain and cut into small chunks.
Heat oil and season with mustard, urad dal, channa dal and red chillies. Add curry leaves if using.
Add the plantain, garlic, turmeric and salt. Sprinkle a little water. This is a dry curry, hence keep the water content to a minimum.
10 minutes later .. dish is done. Yummy plantain podimas can be had with rice or rotis. Simple right.
Enjoy!
